About the Author

This blog isn’t about me, but rather it is about ideas.  Still, the reader might reasonably want to know about the author if for no other reason than to know from what source does this wellspring of ideas emanate.  The path of my life can be summed up as:

West Tennessee Farm boy -> College Student -> Aerospace Engineer -> Software Engineer -> Author/Lecturer -> Small tech firm owner -> Blogger!

Through all those years and all those evolutions I’ve done many interesting things and met many interesting people, but I’ve come to look back most fondly on those simple days working on the family farm.  In those days I was given the choice of driving heavy equipment or performing the menial labor of walking up and down rows of cotton and soybeans with hoe in hand.  I chose the latter because I really detested the constant drone of tractor engines, and more importantly because the laborers got to end their day earlier – which gave me the opportunity to go play tennis and hang out with girls all night.

Even in those young days I was interested in politics.  I can recall becoming so very angry whenever I would hear Ted Kennedy advocate his socialist agenda on behalf of “the American People”, when in fact I was an American who totally disagreed with him.  I argued incessantly with the field hands, as we walked up and down the cotton fields, that the Democrat “socialists” were ultimately not their friends.

I may as well have been talking to a wall.

I’ll tell you one thing – that Dick Nixon was not popular in the cotton patch!

So, after many years of watching and thinking I’m now going to come out of the corner blogging.  I’m new to this, so go easy on me if my many imperfections begin to make themselves known. :)
